Quick shortlist — providers & what they offer for SSH access
- Kinsta — SSH included on all managed WordPress plans (you get shell access, WP-CLI, Composer, etc.). Great managed WP option if you want SSH and expert support. Kinsta
- Cloudways — Managed cloud hosting (you choose the underlying provider: DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, AWS, GCE). SSH/SFTP available on all server types; application users can be granted SSH; master users have SSH by default. Good middle ground for managed services + full SSH. Cloudways Help Center
- WP Engine — Offers an SSH Gateway (SSH key authentication; access via SSH gateway/SSH keys; WP-CLI support). Note: WP Engine’s system is gated (SSH Gateway) rather than full root shell, but it supports the common developer workflows used with WordPress. Check SSH key requirements and gateway docs. WP Engine
- DreamHost — SSH access supported for DreamPress, VPS, and higher plans. VPS/Dedicated give full SSH; DreamPress has documented SSH access for WP installs. Good if you want managed WP with SSH or self-managed VPS. DreamHost Knowledge Base
- Hostinger — SSH is available on most plans (not on the very cheapest “Single” plan). Usually Premium / Business / WordPress Starter+ and cloud plans include SSH; check plan page for exact limits. Hostinger
- Bluehost — SSH available (enabled from cPanel); VPS and dedicated plans include full SSH/root access, and shared plans often allow SSH when enabled. Good budget option; VPS gives full control. Bluehost
- A2 Hosting — Developer-friendly hosting that advertises SSH, WP-CLI, staging, and other dev tools on its WordPress/VPS plans. Good for sites that need direct SSH + tuned stack. hosting.com
- Cloud/VM providers (DigitalOcean, Linode, Vultr, AWS EC2, Google Compute Engine) — Full SSH by default for every instance (Droplet, Linode, VM). Best when you want full server control (install anything, run background workers). Requires more sysadmin work but gives maximum flexibility.
- 1and 1 — SSH is available on most plans, Camieo can connect via SSH username + password which should be available in your hosting dashboard.
